Collagen Powder Servings: Why a Tub May Not Last as Long as You Think
By Glow Nutrition1 min read
Who this is for: UK buyers surprised by how quickly collagen powder tubs run out
A big tub does not always mean many servings
Collagen powders are easy to misjudge by container size. A tub can look generous and still contain only 30 servings if the daily scoop is large.
The useful calculation is simple: total grams divided by grams per serving. Ignore the size of the container.
Serving size changes the economics
A 400g tub can be 80 servings at 5g, 40 servings at 10g, or about 30 servings at 13g. Those are very different monthly costs.
This is why two powders at similar prices can have different value. One may be cheaper per tub but more expensive per daily dose.
Settling can look like short-fill
Powders settle in transit. Brands also use containers with headspace for filling, sealing and handling. That can make a newly opened tub look partly empty.
Settling is not automatically a problem. A broken seal, leaking powder, obvious underfill or repeated short-fill complaints are different issues. Those are worth raising with the retailer.
Scoops create another layer of confusion
Some products include a scoop. Some do not. Some buyers use kitchen spoons instead, which can change serving size dramatically.
If the label gives grams, a cheap kitchen scale is more reliable than guessing. That matters for both value and consistency.
Claims and safety note
Serving maths is about value and routine, not outcomes. A larger serving does not prove a product will improve skin, hair, nails, joints, wrinkles, hydration or ageing. Collagen has no authorised health claim in Great Britain.
Do not use powder from a broken seal or contaminated pack. If the fill level appears materially wrong, photograph the product and contact the retailer. If you use other supplements, check added vitamins and minerals before increasing serving size.

Frequently asked questions
- Why is my collagen tub not full?
- Powder can settle during transport, and tubs are often larger than the powder volume for filling and handling. If the seal is broken or the fill seems wrong, contact the retailer.
- How do I calculate servings in collagen powder?
- Divide total pack grams by grams per serving. A 400g tub at 10g per serving gives 40 servings; at 13g per serving it gives about 30 servings.
- Is price per serving enough?
- It helps, but price per gram of collagen is better when comparing different serving sizes and formats.
